Growth by Design: Scalable Self-Service Newsletters

Engage newsletters provide a turnkey solution for delivering energy efficiency content to targeted utility customer segments. Users could review, approve, and modify newsletter elements, but editing or creating content required submitting a cumbersome change request.

This managed service was not scalable, and its high cost placed the product out of reach for smaller utilities, a key growth objective for the business.

Partnering with leadership, I led the product strategy and end-to-end design of self-service content features and a redesigned newsletter management experience, empowering users to create and edit newsletter content directly while establishing a scalable, lower-cost path for market expansion.

  • Expanded market reach to 220+ smaller utilities
  • Reduced number of customer change requests and Client Operations costs

Engage email reporting provided extensive campaign data but was rigid, difficult to interpret, and lacked context for evaluating performance. Additionally, it did not account for the impact of privacy filters on open rate data.

I led the product strategy and end-to-end design of a new reporting experience that emphasized KPIs, introduced benchmark comparisons, custom date range filtering, and a comprehensive breakdown of opens data, equipping customers with the tools and insights needed to create informed campaign strategies.
